List of six finalists for Little Rock Police Chief reveals lack of interest by qualified individuals - LR Mayor's favorite is former LRPD assistant chief Crystal Young-Haskins
In 2022, after disgraced LRPD chief Keith Humphrey resigned in May 2022 during a criminal and internal investigation for a New Years Eve shooting incident, Young-Haskins was named the interim police chief.
She quit a month later to take a position with the Tacoma, WA police department.
Young-Haskins filed a lawsuit in July 2026, claiming that she was overlooked for a promotion because her complaint against ex-Deputy Chief Paul Junger led to him being fired.
Since Junger’s termination, Young-Haskins has been increasingly isolated and excluded from leadership discussions she previously participated in, according to a copy of the complaint filed in Pierce County Superior Court.
The opening for a new chief at her old department back in Arkansas could not have happened at a better time for her.
She is the person the feckless Little Rock Mayor wants in the position, but she is not well-liked by veteran LRPD cops as they claim she slept her way up the ranks.
The two LRPD assistant chiefs, Dyer and Ellison, that applied and were interviewed don't stand a chance with Young-Haskins coming in after they were interviewed.
One of the other finalists, Nicholas Augustine, was named Chief of the Maryland Transportation Department on August 27th.
Another applicant, Dr. Joel Fitzgerald, Sr. should never have made the list for an interview based on his inability to stay in a position and his filing a lawstui against a city that fired his sorry ass.
And the remaining dark-horse finalist, Anthony Schembri, is the chief of police at the New York City Health + Hospitals.
We published a story when Young-Haskins left LRPD back in 2022 and called into question her false claim that she lived in a home on South Chester. That home was uninhabitable when she claimed to live there.

LRPD Assistant chiefs are required to live in Little Rock, unless they obtain a wavier from city hall. Young-Haskins did not have one.
Little Rock has a long history of having corrupt, dishonest, imbeciles heading up LRPD and Crystal Young-Haskins will carry on that legacy.
