Little Rock Mayor refuses to appear in public without his LRPD bodyguards

Little Rock mayor Frank Scott, Jr. touts that Little Rock is a safe city and crime is down. Yet he spends around $300,000 or more on two Little Rock cops, Larry McDonald and Justin Taynor, to shuttle him to public and private appearances in a SUV rented out to LRPD.   If Little Rock is safe, why does he need LRPD chauffers and bodyguards? Sworn statements of McDonald, Taynor and Scott (along with their supervisor Lt. Dana Jackson) obtained from a state government proceeding in 2023, provide details about the mayor's fears of appearing at events in Little Rock without police protection.   McDonald told state investigators that the mayor is picked up at his house in a unmarked SUV every day that is rented by LRPD and driven to city hall or to another location where he might have a meeting. Arkansas Baptist College last paid employees on October 31st. Alumni group resorts to crowdfunding to help.

Employees have resorted to crowdfunding for assistance Arkansas Baptist College ("ABC") employees have not received a paycheck in two months  and are suffering financial hardships, including evictions and food insecurity. Employees reached out to us and provided detailed information about the situation. Arkansas Baptist College, founded in 1884, is a private, historically black liberal arts college located in Little Rock, Arkansas. It has a history of financial problems. On  January 22, 2024, students protested over lack of answers about financial aid and scholarships posed to school administration. In 2018, the Black Agenda Report ("BAR") filed this story that detailed suspicious financial dealings at the college.     We reached out to the newly hired ABC president Leslie Rodriguez-McClellon for comments.
