Andrew J. McGann, 28, a newly hired teacher in the Springdale, AR school district, was arrested on July 30th for the gruesome double homicide at Devil's Den State Park of Clinton David Brink ,43, and Christian Amanda Brink, 41, that occured on July 26th.

McGann was taken into custody at Lupita's Beauty Salon & Barber Shop in Springdale.

Here's a video from the salon of the arrest.

The salon was just a 14 minute drive from his rented residence on Pinecrest Street in Springdale.

McGann was hired on June 16th to teach at Bayyari Elementary K-5 in the upcoming school year.

Here's a copy of his personnel file that was quickly provided to us by the Springdale School District.

According to his application for employment, McGann previously taught 5th grade at Northwoods Fine Arts Academy in the Sand Springs Public School District in Sand Springs, OK.

The Arkansas Department of Education has his license "under review".

McGann is currently being held without bond inthe Washington County Detention Center in Fayetteville, AR. He was set to appear this morning for a Rule 8.1 hearing. McGann is been charged with two counts of Capital Murder.

In Arkansas, Rule 8.1 of the Rules of Criminal Procedure addresses the prompt first appearance of an arrested person before a judicial officer. This hearing must occur without unnecessary delay after arrest, typically after being taken into custody and not released on citation or other lawful means. The purpose of the Rule 8.1 hearing is to inform the defendant of the charges against them, ensure they understand their rights, and determine if they will be released or if a bond will be set.

Stay tuned for updates.
