Little Rock is not a safe city no matter how much the Scott Administration claims it is

Little Rock is considered one of the more dangerous cities in the United States due to a combination of high violent crime rates, significant drug-related issues, and deep-rooted socioeconomic challenges.

Key Factors Behind Little Rock’s High Crime Rate

1. Violent Crime Rates

Little Rock’s violent crime rate is nearly three times the national average, with a rate of 18.25 violent crimes per 1,000 people—more than double the Arkansas state average.

The city has seen a notable increase in homicides, rising from 43 in 2019 to 64 in 2021, an overall increase of about 48% in just two years.

As of June 15th, 31 homicides have occured in Little Rock so far in 2025.

Most violent crimes are concentrated in specific neighborhoods, particularly in zip codes 72209, 72205, and 72204, which are characterized by higher poverty and disinvestment.

2. Drug-Related Crime

Little Rock is frequently identified as the most dangerous city in Arkansas for drug-related crime, driven by widespread methamphetamine and opioid abuse.

Its status as a population and transit hub makes it a hotspot for drug trafficking, which fuels both property and violent crimes.

3. Socioeconomic Disparities

High poverty rates, limited access to healthcare, and inadequate addiction treatment services contribute to both drug use and criminal activity.

Structural issues such as racial segregation, concentrated poverty, and lack of economic investment in certain neighborhoods are directly linked to higher rates of violence.

4. Crime Concentration and Community Impact

Crime in Little Rock is highly localized, with most incidents occurring in a small number of neighborhoods and even specific streets within those areas.

These neighborhoods often have high rates of vacant properties, low employment opportunities, and other indicators of structural disadvantage.

5. Other Contributing Factors

Gang activity and crimes of passion or disputes between individuals with existing conflicts are common sources of violent incidents.

The city’s infrastructure challenges, such as poor road conditions, also contribute to a general sense of disorder and risk, though these are less directly related to violent crime.

Local Perspective

Residents note that while crime is a serious issue, it is often localized, yet many areas of Little Rock are not safe. The most dangerous situations typically involve gang activity or occur in neighborhoods with ongoing conflicts. Practicing common-sense safety measures and being aware of which areas to avoid at certain times can significantly reduce risk.

Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. refuses to go outside his residence and make appearances in the city unless he is accompanied by whis team of Little Rock Police bodyguards/chauffers.  When pressed, the city cannot prodice any credible threats made against the feckless Mayor.

In summary, Little Rock’s reputation for danger is rooted in a combination of high violent crime rates, drug-related offenses, and longstanding socioeconomic challenges, with crime highly concentrated in particular neighborhoods.

On June 13, 2020, Joseph proposed to Callie.  They were married on February 21, 2021. By the time of their first anniversary, their marriage was in shambles and Callie was estranged from her family all due to this man, Arkansas State Police Trooper Billy Mitchell Martin. Martin joined the ASP as a recruit in January of 2007. Records from his personnel file indicate he was from Boone County and he was posted there after graduating troop school.   Martin was promoted to Trooper First Class in July 2011 and Corporal in July 2014. In late 2019 and early 2020, Martin tried to get transferred to a Criminal Investigation position in Boone County but was unsuccessful. Around that same time, Martin filed for divorce from his wife of 10 years.   The Divorce was finalized in March 2020. Martin hit the single scene hard and had no trouble hooking up with bad...
