Court records provide details about Arkansas State Police Trooper Brandon Lofton and his domestic violence incident

On November 5th, the Arkansas State Police sent out a press release about another one of their Troop A Big Hat Bullies, Sgt. Brandon Lofton, 41, of Benton. AR.

ASP Sgt. Brandon Lofton

Lofton had been arrested after an altercation with his wife, Lanethia Lofton.

Trooper Lofton was charged with Aggravated Assault on a Family or Household Member, two counts of felony Terroristic Threatening, two counts of Third-Degree Domestic Battery and First-Degree Interference with Emergency Communications.

Mr. & Mrs. Lofton before the domestic violence incident

According to a Petition for an Order of Protection, filed by Mrs. Lofton just a couple of hours after Trooper Lofton was arrested, Mrs. Lofton was afraid that her husband was going to murder her and she feared for her life.

Mrs. Lofton stated that on November 4th, Trooper Lofton slapped her during an argument and she ran into an bathroom to get away from him. Trooper Lofton kicked open the door and began beating on her.

Mrs. Lofton begged for him to spare her life. Then she told Trooper Lofton if she wanted her to "kill the man" she would do it in exchange for her life. A little while later he shoed her two guns that he said she was to use to kill Bernard Robinson and Michael Deloney.

On November 5th, after their children left their home for school, Trooper Lofton began beating on her again. Mrs. Loftin tried to flee from him and her tried to stop her. She was able to get away from him and used his ASP cellphone that was in his truck to call 911.

At the time of publication, no further information about why Trooper Lofton wanted the two men killed or if they had any connection to Mrs. Lofton has been obtained.

Based on Mrs. Lofton's petition, a Temporary Order of Protection was granted.

A hearing has been set for December 9, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. at the Saline County Courthouse before Judge Brent Houston to determine if the Order of Protection will be extended.

Stay tuned for updates.

The Arkansas State Police has confirmed that Trooper Lincoln Smith from Troop E (based in Pine Bluff) was fired on April 11th for illegal conduct.    False reports of his arrest went viral on social media.   As the ASP criminal investigation is on-going, they will not release any further details of his criminal actions.   As the termination letter states, Smith admitted to criminal conduct and was immediately fired.  Smith was hired by the ASP on October 2023. Smith was employed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission as a Game Warden prior to his hiring by the ASP.   Records obtained from CLEST do not indicate that the ASP requested decertification.     Jacksonville 911 was contacted about Smith and they advised he last worked for them in 2022.   At the time of publication, Smith's Facebook page is still open and up.    Stay tuned for updates.
