Craighead County Clerk arrested and charged with theft of property - Petition filed to remove him from office

Eariler today Craighead County Clerk Kade Holliday was arrested and charged with of theft of property exceeding $1 million and abuse of office.

Second Judicial District Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington announced Holliday’s arrest Monday.

“This morning, officers from the Arkansas State Police and Craighead County Sheriff’s Department arrested Craighead County Clerk Kade Holliday. I have instructed my deputies to immediately file felony theft charges against him. Chief Deputy Prosecutor Grant DeProw will file a Felony Information charging multiple counts of Theft of Property in excess of $2,500 and one count of Abuse of Office, all of which are Class B felonies. He will also file a petition asking the Circuit Court to remove Holliday from office today.”

According to the news release, Ellington received an “urgent phone call” Thursday, June 25, to meet with County Judge Marvin Day and auditors with the Division of Legislative Audit.

Ellington said auditors had obtained and examined bank records that raised suspicion of theft of county funds from an account Holliday maintained in his official capacity as county clerk.

Ellington and Day subsequently met with the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division which then opened an investigation which resulted in Holliday’s arrest.

County Judge Marvin Day stated in a news release the investigation revealed that Holliday “personally received monies in excess of $1 million since January 2020.”

The Arkansas Times reported that Holliday had opened a new restaurant/club near Arkansas State in February, which was forced to close early in the pandemic outbreak. He’d also recently opened a restaurant in Nashville, TN Both ventures required capital investments.

Holliday's Twitter account has him listed as the owner of Holliday Development and Management and Shattered Windows Productions.

I n June 2023 a teenage female filed a compliant with the Arkansas State Police ("ASP") about Corporal Michael Valentin, an ASP Trooper stationed in Harrison, AR. In her complaint she alleged that Valentin had groomed her and had sexual activities, while on duty, with her and another minor female. She also alleged he was stalking her. An internal investigation was opened. Both teenage females were interviewed as was Valentin. The girls stated that they were acquainted with Valentine because one of them was the stepdaughter of a fellow trooper and Valentin was a frequent customer at the restaurant that the fellow trooper and his wife owned, where both of the girls worked. Arkansas State Police Troopers fired for illicit sexual relationship

Two Arkansas State Police Troopers were fired on April 5, 2024 after administrative investigations were conducted into accusations that they were romantically involved. Sgt. The feckless Little Rock mayor made this post of Facebook yesterday. So this morning we went to the County Clerk's website and grabbed a copy of his marriage license application. We immediately noticed that both Scott and his bride to be listed the same residence address - 8101 Kanis Oaks Drive. Scott's residence on his voter records is on Edwina Drive in Southwest Little Rock. Scott's bride-to-be is registered to vote in Florida. More about her later on in the story. So we Googled that address. According to records on file with Pulaski County, the property is owned by DRS Family Trust. You might wonder who is DRS Family Trust. Well dear readers, it's the mayor. The trust uses the middle initials of the mayor ("D" for Derrick) and his future spouse ("R" for Renee). the "S" is for Scott. How did we come to that conclusion?
