The Arkansas State Police ("ASP") fired probationary Trooper Jeffery "Jeff" Cross of Marvell on November 15th after his arrest for Domestic Battery in the Third Degree, a Class A misdemeanor back in August.   An internal investigation began early  in September and ended in late October. According to a letter from the head of the ASP, Col. Bill Bryant, Cross was fired because of his lack of truthfulness and unbecoming conduct. ABC AGENT DANIEL MONTGOMERY ABC Enforcement Agent Daniel Montgomery claimed he used minors in illegal entrapment operations, but the two young ladies he used are not minors at all but are actually age of majority adults. AUGUST JENKINS CLAIR EBBING Both of these young ladies were 19 years old at the time Agent Montgomery claimed they were minors on ABC pay documents. While both of these young ladies are two years away from being able to legally purchase alcoholic beverages, they are not minors under Arkansas law. A n d the ABC's use of minor's and under-aged individuals to entrap permit holders is hig hly questionable and in fact illegal. MARY MCGOWAN - PULASKI COUNTY CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE The Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission ("JDDC") announced on Friday, November 18th that it had issued an "adjustment" letter to Judge Mary McGowan she had accepted an "informal adjustment" for taking too long to rule on a lawsuit. McGowan acknowledged that she took 13 months to resolve a lawsuit which attorney Sam Perroni filed against the  JDDC in 2012. SAM PERRONI In 2012, Perroni won a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against JDDC. In deciding that lawsuit, McGowan agreed with Perroni that the agency had to reveal the names of the commission members who had cleared Fox of the allegations Perroni had made against him. In his suit against JDDC, Perroni accused it of exceeding its authority when it failed to sanction another judge about whom Perroni had complained: Pulaski County Circuit Judge Tim Fox.   ERNIE BIG GS IN THE LITT LE ROCK RIVER MARKET  We posted a story back in July about serious problems at Ernie Biggs in Little Rock and how the ABC Board appeared to be afraid to take action against the sketchy piano bar and nightclub. CLICK TO VIEW POST In April, Ernie Biggs was fined $2,200.00, placed on six-month probation and ordered to have its alcohol permit suspended for two weeks for three December 2015 violations. This past Wednesday the ABC Board gave Ernie Biggs a huge break and reduced the two week suspension period that ABC Administrative Director Bud Roberts had assessed them to just two days. The bar paid the fine but disputed the suspension at the monthly ABC Board Meeting.
